I was born in 1943 and studied Dentistry at Guy's Hospital. As a student and after qualifying, I spent much of my spare time sketching and watercolour painting plein air. On retirement I have concentrated on oil painting plein air. My objective is to reveal the beauty and atmosphere of a subject by paying particular attention to the light and the weather. Seascapes and boats are of particular interest to me as I have spent a lot of time sailing. I have had painting trips to Cornwall, Venice, Amsterdam, Bruges and Morocco but also make the most of the countryside directly around me in Hampshire and West Sussex. Portrait painting is also a passion of mine, and I have studied for several years at the Heatherley School of Fine Art.
